New York Central Lines - Castleton cut-off - Alfred H. Smith Memorial Bridge
ca. 1924(?)
Long Island City, N.Y. : Latham Litho & Ptg. Co.
Latham Litho & Ptg. Co., lithographer.

Notes: This is a good example of a poster that has gone past the point of being shown as-is. The restoration of this poster really points out how lost art can be brought back to life.

Aladdin Jr. a tale of a wonderful lamp.
c. 1894
Cincinnati ; New York : Strobridge Lith. Co., c1894.
American Extravaganza Co.

Notes: This is another example of a photograph/artwork that has really faded into a murkiness. Although, the original looks nice in the historical sense, which is why it is good to offer the original in some form when displaying the restoration.

The restoration, however, came out really nice, and it is great to see something from almost 110 years ago as people saw it back then.

Kellar
c. 1899
New York : Strobridge Lith. Co.

Notes: This poster is a great poster from 1899. It faded yellow and the scan is very saturated, but that it probably a scanner issue -- it may have been adjusted for contrast electronically and is in actuality very faded.

The large chunk torn out was repaired, dirt removed, and colors adjusted. As a large poster, it has a nice visible "copyright 1899" imprinted near the bottom.

Rice's beautiful Evangeline
c. 1896
New York : Strobridge Lith. Co.

Notes: Yet another example of a poster that has faded, this one almost losing its colors.

Ring it again Buy U.S. Gov't Bonds, Third Liberty Loan
c. 1917
Sackett & Wilhelms Corp., N.Y.

Notes: This WWI poster was in pretty good shape. It only needed to have some light fading and yellowing removed.

This is a good example of a restoration that can make a real difference with only 20 minutes work.

Paris, édité par les grands réseaux des chemins de fer Français
c. 1930
Printed in France.
Atelier Julien Lacaze, 69 Ave de Rigny, Bry s/Marne (Seine).

Notes: This is an example of a very nice and artistic poster that is just too far gone to present without some intervention.

Once restored, the colors came out very nicely, and it turned out to be a very nice poster.

Books wanted for our men in camp and over there.
ca. 1918-1923

Notes: This is an example of an item that is much more damaged than it looks. It had scratches and marks all over the picture, and was almost unrestorable with only an 8-bit-per-channel source.

Fight, let's go! Join the Navy c. 1942
Barclay, McClelland, USNR, artist.
